Hello, I am Sue Noble, Weaver of Texture and Color. My working studio is in Lopez Village on Fisherman Bay, Lopez Island, Washington. My offerings are called FishBay Sunsets because of the sometimes dramatic, sometimes subtle, tones and textures which I am surrounded by and with which I am fortunate enough to work. The colors and sensations of this world are reflected in my work.
As weavers have done through the ages, I learned my craft from more experienced craftspeople in my community. When I discovered a unique spun fiber of rayon, linen and cotton, I felt inspired to share its many colors and facets in my work. As I began to explore the sumptuous textures and more complex aspects of my pieces, I have added different fibers to my inventory, affirming that color and texture is my world.
Working exclusively in rayon, linen, and cotton, I create wall hangings, table runners and rugs, placemats, scarves, and evening wraps. The flavor of my work runs from old world and casual elegance to contemporary sparkle and buttery soft sophistication. While I work in solids and traditional patterns, I often find myself creating one-of-a-kind fiber art pieces, both balanced and asymmetrical. My loom of choice is the Swedish Glimakra counterbalance, with which I am able to incorporate many time-honored, old world techniques into my work. I continue to hone my craft with ongoing education from several weaving professionals.
I am committed to meeting the needs and tastes of all who enter my door and I welcome the input and imagination of my clients. My weaving is my passion and I would be pleased to work with you in creating a unique piece of wearable or interior art for your home, yourself, or to give as a gift that will long be cherished.
